Joel and Ethan saw the film and were so amused that they sent Yimou an email explaining “They were amazed their film had been turned into a noodle story.”

Since they collaborated on Blood Simple which happened to be Burwell and the Coens’ first film.  Burwell’s upcoming films include A Serious Man and Where the Wild Things Are.  If you’d like to hear more of Carter Burwell’s work check out Radio Burwell on his website.
